Nick Kemp, Frank Farrelly approved Provocative Therapy Trainer
Before Frank Farrelly passed he talked about the possibility of creating an online training facility. I am pleased to announce that this is now possible as a pilot. I have already tested the online platform with my own PCW work and am satisfied that the software is stable enough to begin a specific Provocative Therapy study group.
Provocative Training Online
This course will run for a month-by-month period. Each month subscribers will receive a link to video of a provocative session to study. At the end of each month at a prearranged time the group will meet as a whole to discuss our collective findings. I am fortunate to have the Frank Farrelly archive dating back to 1960s which contains reams of unreleased material in video, audio and article format. If this pilot is successful we will extend this initiative and explore additional study mediums including live training opportunities.
Members of the study group will explore the following
- How provocation is used to change client beliefs
- The nature and application of provocative stances
- Non verbal language in client sessions
- The use of metaphors and storytelling to assist with client change
Frank Farrelly was clear that he never wanted any certifications in his classic Provocative Therapy approach, so beware of any trainers offering ‘Provocative Therapy certification” or even worse exams in “Provocative Therapy” Frank also pointed out that Provocative Therapy is not about “being funny” and although humour may result from sessions talking about Provocative Therapy as “therapy or coaching with humour” is not what he wanted with his work
I was fortunate to host Frank for many years and spend considerable time with him on a one to one basis. When he passed he trusted me with his life’s work to promote Provocative Therapy in the way he intended.

Hi Nick,
I was wondering what up and coming training opportunities may be available. I’m looking for online as outside of my therapy practice I care for two disabled people so travelling is, at times, difficult. I an Ericksonian hypnotherapist trained by Stephen Brooks. My background outside of therapy was in executive coaching and consultancy throughout the world.
